TONIGHT: SIMFUCKERS (ADL), IDLE MINDS, GENTLEMEN, DRIBBLE, R.I.P FUCKER

Tonight at the Black Goat has one of the meanest lineups I’ve seen in a while. Kicking off the SIMFUCKERS weekender we have our very own IDLE MINDS joined by caveman punks GENTLEMEN and those little shits, DRIBBLE. R.I.P FUCKER is also playing it’s first show. They’re a new band featuring members from PATHETIC HUMAN, SPLIT TEETH, HAVITTAJAT and more. The show is 8 bux and it starts at 8pm.

Here are more than enough flyers for the show:

REVIEW #2: IDLE MINDS / AIDS SPLIT 7”

image

Idle Minds is a four piece band from Melbourne, Australia who formed in 2011.  Idle Minds play a great style of bare bones, no frills style hardcore/punk with a great L.A. and 80’s Boston vibe going on with their sound.  Idle Minds sound is frantic, snotty, and uberpissed.  These six songs are the band’s latest recorded material and makes up their side of their split 7” with Aids.  Musically, Idle Minds call to mind bands such as The Freeze, SSD, and Black Flag as well as newer bands such as Brainkiller, The Boston Strangler, Goosebumps. Overall, these six songs are ragers for sure and Idle Minds tear through these six songs in a little under six minutes.  Great stuff.  Enjoy.

REVIEW: IDLE MINDS / AIDS SPLIT 7”

We stumbled across a review that was written 2 months ago and thought we might as well put it up. Thanks Pat.

“Idle Minds are a Melbourne 80’s influenced punk rock band, containing members of a number of other bands from around town (The World At A Glance, Diploid, Shut In, Homer Badman, Big Face and the Boogie Woogie Boogie Board Boys, Shut Up Jackson, James Kane, The Fiction - not too sure how they find the time for all of these things..).  Their sound is a rearview glance at the more frantic side of 1980’s American hardcore,  stuff like Jerry’s Kids, JFA, SSD, Gang Green, RKL. Scott’s vocals reflect utter lunacy, almost like an acme program if Wile E. Coyote was hopped up on bath salts or a big bag o’ meth. Production quality is suitably lo-fi sounding without being a total drag, and the songs, all sub 2 minutes, are all corkers.” ..READ MORE

COMING UP ON UNWOUND

image

Theres a few things coming up on Unwound, first up we’ll be putting out a real good tape from A STRANGE DAY which features Dylan Black from the legendary WHITE WALLS and producer QUABB (Shane Jarvie) pulling off some outrageous electronica-gaze.

Also coming out soon is DIPLOID’S 2 track cassette titled ‘IN HEAVEN’ the first track is a cover of that creepy tune from Eraserhead. Y’know, the one where that strange woman with the paper mache face is singing? Traumatising.

Last up will be another angsty release from Melbourne mischef-makers IDLE MINDS. The tape will feature a slightly different direction, but more or less the same old shit. Recorded and mixed by Alex McFarlane of the mighty STEVENS.

Let your ears bleed.
